- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 cup cold shortening
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
DIRECTIONS:
Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk; stir just until dough clings together. On lightly-floured board, knead dough gently, about 10-12 times. Roll 1/2″ thick; cut with 2″ round biscuit cutter. Place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Yield: 18-20 biscuits.
