Sky High Cheddar Biscuits


  • 3 c. Gold Medal flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. cold butter
  • 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 c. milk


Combine and mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add cheddar cheese. VARIATION: Instead of cheddar cheese add 1/4 cup fresh, snipped chives. Mix together egg and milk; stir into crumb mixture just until moistened. Turn onto floured surface. Knead 8-10 times. Roll out, keeping square shape, to 1-inch thickness. Cut with pizza cutter into 16 pieces. Place on baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Delicious split and spread with butter and honey
